To remain properly immunized, a dog must receive two rabies vaccinations one year apart, then one vaccination every three years thereafter. Rabies vaccinations can only be given by a licensed veterinarian, licensed veterinary technician or a certified rabies vaccinator at an animal shelter. We require a current rabies vaccination to stay at Bear Creek Kennels.
The best way to prevent canine distemper is through vaccination. The canine distemper vaccine (sometimes abbreviated DAPP, DA2PP, or similarly) that also protects dogs against some other common canine viruses. This vaccine is considered "core" and is required for all dogs staying at Bear Creek Kennels.
The Bordetella vaccine for dogs is an immunization that adds protection against the infectious respiratory disease known as kennel cough. The disease is caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica, a contagious bacteria that infects the windpipe and bronchial tubes.
This vaccination comes in two forms, an intranasal spray that your vet will administer in your dog's nose, and an injection. Both versions are equally effective.
Bordetella booster shots are recommended every six to twelve months. We require the Bordetella every 12 months at Bear Creek Kennels,
Please provide proof of vaccination from your veterinarian. You or your vet can email copies of the required vaccinations to timm@bearcreekkennels.org
You may also bring paper copies with you when you bring your dog(s), but they must be from a veterinarian or the label from a vaccine. We do not accept handwritten notes. There are NO exceptions to our vaccination rules.
